End of term news

In a few hours the Insight School of Art office will be closing for three weeks, so we need to let you know what will be going on between now and when we reopen on the 22nd.

Rob Verrill will be running children’s workshops in the upper studio starting Monday for two weeks. The 6-7yrs workshop is now full but you can still enrol online for all other age groups, subject to places still being available.

Janet Gardner and Richard Greaves will find out on August 4th whether their shortlisted work for the Cork Street Open Exhibition has been hung or not. It’s the final step to what is already a great achievement with over 2000 artists entering. Eight invitations arrived through the post this morning for the artist’s reception at 7pm on August 10th so if you’re a member of the school and would like to go, you can pick some up between 10am and 3pm next week. They’ll be on the floor just in side the front door.

The new Insight School of Art website was launched yesterday and we are really pleased with it. Thank you to everyone who agreed to have their photos taken and to Jamie Gordon (who is an amazing photographer) for taking them. If you have a spare moment, please have a look at the site and let us know what you think. Feel free to point out any errors you spot. We hope you find it easy to use and feel it reflects the quality of what goes on at the school.

We’ve put a Level 4 gallery on the site to show work by each artist studying on the course. If you fancy being a member of the next Level 4 group starting in January you can read all about it on the new site too. It’s a fantastic course.

The next set of chalk pastel workshops are online now too and, if you haven’t enrolled yet for a class next term, you can check availability by looking at our class lists for adults in Barnet or St Albans. Classes for children are once again all fully booked, but you are very welcome to send us an email to be placed on one or two of the waiting lists.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in making the Insight School of Art such a special place to be. Thank you to all staff for your dedication and to all our students for their commitment and continued thirst for learning. We wish you all a relaxing August to recharge your paintbrush batteries in time for next term (what do you mean we haven’t taught you about battery operated paint brushes……..)
