Our amazing 15-18 year olds

Artwork being produced in our children’s classes, as always, has been fantastic to see. Children who attend our classes are so committed to learning more about painting and drawing and improving their skills, which makes teaching them such a special experience and for an amazing studio atmosphere.

During the last two weeks we set our 15-18 year olds some 45 minute challenges to see how well they could respond to a short brief and they succeeded in creating work that would hold its own in Cork Street. The first week’s challenge was to using rubbings and magazine cuttings to create two ‘Surreal Places’ collages each, having looked at the work of artists like Dali, Ernst and De Chirico. Then last week, students were asked to respond to landscape and beach imagery using thick paint, big brushes and palette knives.

Please have a look at a selection of work by all the students that has been added to the schools online gallery. Click on the images to see them in more detail.
