When to enrol for next term
Many of our classes become fully booked well before the start of term. To make enrolment as fair as possible we have two important enrolment dates; one for current members to rebook their current class and a later date for new or returning members and members wishing to swap classes. If you would like to book a place on a class for next term, please make a note of these booking dates:
Current members’ priority re-enrolment: From Tuesday 14th October to Monday 3rd November. Current members trying to book after November 3rd may find that their place has been lost.
New or returning members: From 10am on Tuesday 4th November. Anyone booking before this date who isn’t a current member will be refunded.
One exception to this is for people wishing to book for the Introduction to Acrylic course on Thursdays at 1.30pm with Mick Kirkbride. Anyone wishing to attend this course can do so straight away.
Students who would like to swap class or parents who wish their child to go up an age group should contact Paul Regan as soon as possible for arrangements to be made.
You will notice that there are a few staff changes for our adult classes. We’ve have to have had a bit of a shuffle due to other commitments our teachers have outside of ISoA.
Monday 10.15 and 1pm classes will now be taken by Karen Walters, who has been teaching our very popular classes in St Albans for the last four years.
Monday 7pm Watercolour and Drawing will now be taught by Paul Regan.
Thursdays at 1.30pm will be An Introduction to Acrylics with Mick Kirkbride.
Thursday 7pm will now be Painting Advice and Guidance with Rob Verrill

Sculpting the Head workshop – Sundays 16th and 23rd November
The North London Artist Network is holding a two day sculpture workshop at Insight School of Art in November, led by artist and teacher Patricia Barker, and you are invited to join in!
If you’d like to book a place, please visit the NLAN website to reserve your place. Non NLAN members will be able to book places from October 17th.
This two day workshop is an opportunity to model the head from life in self hardening clay. The course introduces basic skills, measuring, anatomy of the head and neck, and the structure of the individual features and expression. Artists attending will learn how to work from observation and be encouraged to develop their own personal style.
Although this workshop is aimed at adults, it will be particularly valuable for students from our 15-18yrs class, especially if they are considering applying for an art degree.
No previous experience required.
15 yrs – adults
All tools and materials will be provided.

The ISoA Gallery
The next exhibition in our gallery will be the Insight School of Art students End of Year Show. We encourage all students from our adult and children’s classes to hand in a framed work, ready to hang between the 4th and 11th of November for the show.
Prizes will be awarded for various categories.
The exhibition will run from the 14th to the 29th of November. Students are very welcome to bring guests to see the work on display. Non members wishing to see the exhibition can email Charlotte to arrange a suitable time.
All students should have received information about submitting work for the exhibition, but please email Charlotte if you need another copy.
Currently on show in the gallery is ‘The Face’, an exhibition by NLAN artists who make portraits.
Bronwen Shinn wins prize
Congratulations to Bronwen Shinn, who is the third Insight School of Art student in the last four years to win the Terry Biggs President’s Cup at the St Albans Art Society Annual Exhibition. Her atmospheric night scene, which sold at the exhibition, also achieved columns of high praise from the society’s Chairman in their latest Prism magazine.
More success for Mick Kirkbride
We are delighted to announce that one of our tutors, Mick Kirkbride NEAC, has picked up another important award for his painting. His 5ft painting ‘Drawing Class’ won second prize and sold as part of the Curwen Gallery Painting Prize. You can see the work of all the shortlisted artists at the Curwen Gallery, 34 Windmill Street

Ghita Cohen exhibits at Art House
Congratulations to ISoA student Ghita Cohen who had her work selected for Art House for the second year running, a community art exhibition at the London Jewish Cultural centre.
Director Paul Regan and ex-students in group show
The North London Artist Network was originally born out of Insight School of Art to support artists who had started working in a professional capacity, creating work for exhibitions, commissions or for other commercial purposes.
The success and reputation of the network has grown very fast and it is already considered by many to be an important group of artists living or working in London today.
The network will be holding its annual group show this year at the Camden Image Gallery from Friday 31st October to Sunday 2nd November (12-7). Artists on show will include Paul Regan, Director or Insight School of Art as well as many artists who originally studied at the school.
Please try to get to the show and invite our friends. Paul will be there for most of the day on Sunday if you would like to say hello.

Updated ISoA online galleries
The ISoA website has just had a little bit of tlc so you may notice some nice little changes. The online galleries have also been updated. The children’s gallery now shows a wider variety of the amazing work our students produce. We have also updated the gallery of work by adults. If you haven’t got your most recent work showing on the adults gallery, please email Charlotte the image you would like to have on show. Please note that the gallery show the work of members only.
