Teacher Profiles

Paul Regan
Paul set up Insight having successfully managed art departments in London and abroad, where he received recognition for the high standard of his teaching from both Ofsted (education inspectors) and Edexcel (examination board). He now works full time directing Insight but still teaches some classes in Barnet and St Albans. Paul studied illustration at Bristol before training to teach at the Institute of Education in London. His most recent landscape paintings are peaceful atmospheric scenes with little colour and sharp contrasts of light.

Di Roberts
Di has taught at the Insight School of Art for over five years and also works as a freelance Sixth Form Pastoral Consultant. She has a vast amount of experience teaching art to adults and children. Although specialising in portraiture, she has produces paintings in a variety of media, regularly travelling to her favourite places in the country to paint directly from her subjects. Her paintings, which are often used as examples in class, are recognisable by close attention to detail and vivid use of colour.

Maureen Carveley
Maureen is an experienced artist and teacher who most recently taught at St Albans Girls’ School, where she worked for 8 years teaching both Art and Graphic Design. In the 60’s she studied painting and printed textiles at Bournemouth College of Art, before taking a post graduate Art teachers’ certificate at Hornsey College of Art. She is an excellent draughtsman who at present paints mainly in oils and watercolours. She prefers to work directly from life and concentrates on the figure, still life and landscapes. Maureen has undertaken commissions and frequently exhibits in Hertfordshire.

Rob Verrill
Robert is coordinator of art and design at Brookland Junior School in Hampstead Garden Suburbs, where he has taught for 11 years. He regularly paints, using a wide range of media and submits work for exhibitions nationally and locally. He has also illustrated a number of poetry anthologies using lino cutting printmaking techniques.
