Paul Regan - Director/Teacher
Since founding Insight in 2001, Paul has divided his time between running the school and his own painting practice. He exhibits regularly in London, including at the Royal Academy and the Mall Galleries. In 2016 he was the winner of the Royal Watercolour Award the Art Gemini Prize and the Cass Art Solo Show Award.
Paul has a post graduate certificate in Art and Design education from the University of London.
Celestine Thomas - Studio Manager
Celestine attended classes at Insight School of Art before studying for a degree in Fine Art at Middlesex University. She worked at Insight throughout her studies, helping with our children’s classes and has since taken on the role of Studio Manager.
Her own art practice is mainly focused on colour, light and found objects, using a variety of media.
Matt Davies - Teacher
Since finishing his BA HONS in Fine Art, Matt worked as an art specialist at St Marys Primary School in Hornsey before moving to teach Art and Design at Heron Hall Academy. As well as teaching he still continues to paint large portraits in oils, some of which were recently exhibited in our gallery
Michael Kirkbride - Teacher
Michael studied at the Royal Academy and is a member of the New English Art Club. He exhibits regularly in London and has recently won the Odgers Berndtson purchase prize at the Curwen Gallery and both the David Messum Prize and Doreen Mackintosh Prize at the NEAC Open. His paintings are about people, objects, styling and the subtle nuance of gesture. Michael also teaches Life Drawing for the New English Art Club and the Royal Academy.
Eleanor Langton - Teacher
Eleanor’s practice focuses on drawing and painting still-life objects that reference the mid-century era. In 2016 she won the Publicity Prize and the Artists Prize from the Royal Watercolour Society. She also participated in the Herts Open Studio and was interviewed by Artist Magazine and Cass Art.
Eleanor earned a degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in the US before teaching Art, Design and Photography at Secondary level in the UK.
Lara Sparey - Teacher
Lara works as a freelance designer as well as teaching classes for adults at Insight School of Art. Her public art commissions are typified by her bold graphic style which is also evident in her drawings and paintings. Her most recent commission has been the wall of wonder, a large mechanical installation for East Barnet Secondary School, where she also works as a Designer in Residence.
Rob Verrill - Teacher
Rob has had a career in primary school education with responsibility for art. In his own work he's concerned with abstraction in painting and uses mainly oils and watercolours. Rob has exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (2010 and 2011) and ING Discerning Eye (2011). He has also been selected for the artsdepot Open and Eastern Approaches, winning the Lambert Smith Hampton Award in 2014.
Karen Walters - Teacher
Karen teaches classes for adults at our Barnet and St Albans centres. She gained a degree in Fine Art from the University of Humberside (where she was awarded the Dean's prize for Endeavour in the field of Fine Art), and a PGCE teaching qualification from the Institute of Education. Previously Karen had worked in secondary, further and adult education for ten years. As an artist she specialises in portraiture.
Nancy O'Connor - Studio Assistant
Having attended classes at Insight School of Art for 3 years, Nancy now helps with our children’s classes. She is a student at East Barnet School where she is studying for A Levels in Product Design, Photography, Philosophy & Ethics and French.
Jenna Waldren - Studio Assistant
Having first arrived at Insight School of Art in 2014 for two weeks work experience, Jenna now helps with the running of our children’s classes. She’s currently studying for A Levels in Art, History, Product Design and English literature at East Barnet School and hopes to move on to an Art Foundation course and degree.
