We worked really hard to provide the best art classes and a lovely school. Look at the nice things people have written about our classes.
"We all agree in the group that it is the highlight of our week"
I have been meaning to write to you about the Wednesday eve life drawing class at Insight. It is a popular class with a huge positive energy, mainly due to our tutor Michael Kirkbride. We all talk about how fortunate we are to have such an encouraging passionately spirited teacher. His enthusiasm for creating is infectious.
I studied art for 5 years full time back in the late 80s with a Btec diploma then degree in Design and I always enjoyed the life drawing. Since attending the class with Michael I feel I have developed confidence in studying figurative art far further than during my much earlier 5 years study. Perhaps it's due to wise older age but I believe it is due to your class with a top teacher. Thank you, it is an important positive part of my life now and we all agree in the group that it is the 'highlight of our week', even with all our differing busy lives.
There is a generous spirit of encouragement within the class and Mick has built the right tone and structure which has allowed each person to show their own hidden talent.
Sorry to waffle on but felt need to let you know in writing!
"I received an A* at GCSE."
I believe the classes helped me to improve my work so much so that I received an A* at GCSE, which I didn't think was possible until attending Insight School of Art.
"So much more than she ever would get just at school."
Ruby has had such a lovely time at art class, and I have been amazed at the quality of work that she has produced under yours and Lara's guidance. I am so glad that she has attended for the year and a half that she has, you are able to provide so much more than she ever would get just at school.
Thank you to both you and Lara for all your help and guidance.
"The right environment, a taste of what being creative is all about"
Today was Anjali's last day at ISoA, she moves to big school in Sep and will be concentrating on central studies for a while. I took the opportunity to thank Rob at class today, he has had a very real influence on Anjali's artistic development over the last 4+ years and his insight (no pun intended) into the use of paint and line has given her solid building blocks for a future that will definitely include creative elements of that I have no doubt.
I also wanted to add my thanks to you for creating the right environment and opportunity to give Anjali a taste of what being creative is all about. It has given her the confidence to believe she has a skill that others might admire and opportunities to proudly show her work either at end of term displays or ISoA exhibitions (she still talks about winning a prize). Those opportunities can only give her confidence and stand her in good stead as she takes the next steps in her formal education.
I have to say I will also miss ISoA partly because it was just far enough away for me to stay in the gallery whilst Anjali was upstairs and read all of the RA magazines (I think I've read all of them now). That type of enforced relaxation is hard to come by and surrounded by varied works over the year it has also contributed to me picking up my brushes again which was no bad thing. I enjoyed meeting you from time to time and I wish ISoA (and NLAN) the best of business health going forward.
