Van Gogh’s letters

If you visited The Real Van Gogh: The Artists and his Letters exhibition at the Royal Academy last year you may have wished to have access to all the letters in a book to take home and read in your own time. This was available at the time in six volumes for £450 (now a snip at £427.50 on Amazon), which unless you are the most committed Van Gogh fan, and have a piggy bank ready to burst you probably didn’t buy it.

Now the internet can be a wonderful thing and it’s come up trumps again. The complete letters, annotated, illustrated and translated have been made available for free online courtesy of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. It is an amazing site which gives us the chance to leaf our way through the mind of one of the greatest artists of all time, without breaking the piggybank. This is a real treat.
