Sunday Art Workshop

Clay Relief Sculpture with Patricia Barker
Sunday 24th October, 10am - 4pm

Relief sculpture is halfway between drawing and sculpture. Working on a flat background of clay you can build up projecting forms or incise into the background. Works can be ‘low relief’ like a coin or ‘high relief’ like the Parthenon metopes.

Experienced sculptor and tutor Patricia Barker will guide participants throughout the day to produce their own relief sculptures, initially working from a two dimensional photograph, before being encouraged to develop their own ideas, figurative or abstract, based on drawings they have made in the past, their imagination, or using the vast array of reference material available in our Whetstone studio.

Clay will be air-hardening, which can be taken home and painted when dry if desired.

No previous experience is necessary.

£78 (inc. VAT). All materials are included in the price of the workshop.

Maximum class size for this workshop is 16.

Adults (16+) only, however, children 13+ may attend when accompanied by a participating adult.
