General Painting and Drawing Classes

art class, oil, acrylic and watercolour painting, North London

Insight’s experienced teachers create brand new workshop plans every term, ensuring that all students, of all abilities, learn new skills and techniques, and continually broaden their art history knowledge. Weeks 1-3 and 7-9 each term are delivered as weekly workshops led by the teacher, with the remaining half of the term reserved for students to make artwork of their own choice, with expert advice and guidance throughout.

We deliver the workshop sessions in a way that reflects the best of what we experienced at Art School; notably introducing artists, movements, materials and techniques, both contemporary and from history, then setting challenges in response, encouraging individuality and a variety of outcomes.

Students who attend an 'Oil/Acrylic and Drawing' class may choose to use either of the two painting mediums during the term and students who book an 'All Media' class may work in any media they choose. Please note that all of our studios are turpentine and white sprit free environments. We recommend that students who use oil paint use either Winsor and Newton Artisan Watermixable Oils or a paint dilutant like Zest-IT.

When we teach classes over Zoom, we try to replicate our studio based classes as best as we can, using multiple cameras, demonstrating, sharing images and giving critique.

Some painting and drawing equipment is required for all of these classes. A list is available on our Frequently Asked Questions page.
