Sunday Art Workshops

Tonal Sight Size Portraits

At the start of the workshop Lewis will demonstrate the basics of the sight size method for portraiture; a rigid form of training where students are given plumb lines, measuring sticks and mirrors to aid them in their work.

Students will then complete quick fifteen minute sketches to warm up before embarking on a tonal 'Grisaille’ portrait oil painting from one of the two models available.

Lewis studied at Byam Shaw and the London Atelier of Representational Art and is best known for winning the 2016 Columbia Threadneedle Prize at the Mall Galleries. He is also a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.

All materials are included in the price of the class.

Maximum class size for this workshop is 12.

Adults (16+) only however, children 13+ may attend when accompanied by a participating adult.
