Sunday Art Workshops

Portraiture in Clay

Patricia Barker will teach participants how to sculpt their own 'half size' clay portrait, working directly from a model. Using air hardening clay, students will be given guidance on the different stages of modelling the head and features, building their heads on an armature, working towards creating a likeness of the model by the end of the day.

Students will receive a brief summary of the anatomy of the head, learning the important points to establish, as well as instruction on the use of modelling tools.

This workshop is planned for beginners, though more experienced sculptors are also welcome to attend.
