Life drawing has been one of the most important practices for the development of an artist’s skills for centuries, challenging every aspect of recording from observation. Drawing from life is thrilling, rewarding and fully absorbing. Attending life drawing classes will rapidly improve your ability to make all types of art.
The life drawing classes at the Insight School of Art are suitable for people of all abilities. Carefully planned drawing exercises are delivered in the first hour of each session, followed by a single pose for the remainder of the session, allowing students to develop their own ideas and interests. Regular informal discussion and analysis is encouraged between students, creating a good, friendly learning environment.
Each term there are 9 weeks working from the nude (including a three week pose), two weeks dedicated to portraiture and one week working from a model in costume.
Basic drawing equipment and paper is provided and the model fee is included.
